Have you ever thought about the word "normal"?
How about "average"?
Do these words apply to you? If so, we're truly sorry.
As you get to know us, we start to seem normal, I suppose. Anyone's reality can shift, giving the appearance of normalcy to people and events around them.
We dress up in clothes that have been out of style for 225 years. We make vehicle purchase decisions based on how our gun or tent will fit the new car. For that matter, I miss my wife... but only because I shoot blanks with my musket. Our favorite music is from the 70's and 80's... the 1770's and 1780's. Normal?
In 2001, a few veteran re-enactors, tired of what they had been doing, thought of doing something a little different. A unit that fought all over the South. A light infantry unit, that used light infantry drill and tactics. A unit that kept modern politics to a minimum, while striking a balance between a good time, and good authenticity. After some discussion and research, we decided to recreate the Royal North Carolina Regiment, and specifically the light infantry company of that regiment, which was commanded by Captain William Hamilton. In November, 2001, the Recreated RNCR made it's debut at the battle of Camden re-enactment, and haven't stopped to look back yet!
Our members range from pharmacists to computer folks, pre-school teachers to construction workers, college students and machinists- really all over the spectrum. We share an enjoyment for what we do.
