One of the most striking things visitors to camp notice is the lack of "stuff" and creature comforts. We sit on the ground, on logs, or whatever may be naturally available, instead of carrying chairs, boxes, etc., since the troops we represent had NO WAY to carry those items. A basic tenet of the recreated Royal North Carolina Regiment states: "To bring an item to an event, not only must it be documented to the period, but to the Provincial military; you must also be capable of carrying said item on your person while marching on campaign"

The unit is a progressive style unit, that will stay on the cutting edge of authenticity. For more information on the Progressive movement, browse to: http://www.revwarprogressive.org

What's allowed, you ask?

Standard British issue tent, bell back, 6’H X 7’L X 6’W (At some events we may go 'tentless' as the unit did not have them for several months in 1781)

Sheet iron or tinned iron Kettle approx 9"H X 9"W  These were issued at a rate of one to a mess group- 5-6 men

Your knapsack, snapsack, and or haversack, and their contents.

Wooden tent pegs.

A wool blanket, white preferred. Heavy as possible.

Things missing: Fire irons. Candle stands. Cast iron pots, unless in a fort or similar. Boxes. Tables. Chairs. Etc., etc...

Inside the tent: Some allowances are made, inside of your tent, if items remain inside, and well concealed. A cooler would be allowed, but can't be dragged to the camp street even when camp is "closed".

For our purposes, consider camp as "open" 24 hours a day, except during set-up & break-down of camp.
